Each week we provide craft & play activities, outings or events for the children to further develop their abilities and social skills. Here are some of the fun things the children have been doing.
Gymnastics - 18/09/21
Today was a full house with new families joining us!! The kids enjoyed a range of activities such as gymnastics, tower blocks, sensory foam and outdoor play!!
Animal parachutes - 11/09/21
Today was a busy Saturday as the children took part in loads of activities such as making animal parachutes,drawing and outdoor play. The kids also enjoyed watering the garden and looking at insects 🐞
First week back! - 04/09/21
It’s our first week back after the summer holiday and we’re ready for some craft!! The kids loved painting whales, cars and boats 🚤 They also had fun playing outside.
31/07/21 - Pizza Party
Today was our last session before the summer holidays and we celebrated with a pizza party 🎊. We had loads of indoor and outdoor activities including henna and face painting.
24/07/21- Lighthouses and mosaics
The kids enjoyed making Lighthouse photo frames and summer mosaics. They also had fun drawing butterflies and decorating them with glitter.
17/07/21 - bubbles and ice-cream craft
Today was the perfect hot day for lots of outdoor fun!! The children enjoyed making giant bubbles and making scratch magnets and bookmarks🍦
10/07/2021 - Making cloud dough
This week the kids were busy making cloud dough by using cornstarch and conditioner ☁️ They also watered the plants in the garden, had fun with bubbles outdoors and took part in superhero drawings!
3/07/21- gardening and outdoor play
We had great fun with robots,dragons, and Alice in the Wonderland craft this week! The kids also enjoyed gardening as they planted some new plants together, and loads of activities outside!
26/06/2021- Outdoor fun
It's been a sunny day and the kids had fun decorating sun visors, biscuits and cupcakes 🧁 and had lots of outdoor fun with loads of activities.
19/06/2021 - puppet craft and sensory play
Today the kids had fun making wooden craft puppets and playing with shaving cream and sensory foam. We had new families join us today, it’s great to see the family growing 💪
12/06/2021 - Father's Day craft
Today was a fun and exciting day as there were plenty of activities for the children. They made cards for Father's Day, robot and unicorn masks and also made chocolate rice crispies...yum! 😋
05/06/2021- playing with bubbles
This week, the children were busy colouring, building blocks and best of all...bubbles!!!! They each took turns in creating huge bubbles and popping them.
29/05/21- Our venue setup
We have a spacious new venue with various different activity areas such as : construction, reading and sensory corner, home corner, technology area , craft table, puzzle area and lunch table. The children had great fun today enjoying the weather with bubbles outside and crafting paper aeroplanes.
22/05/21- New venue
It’s our first in person session in a spacious new venue! We were able to finally meet in person and welcome new families who were very greatful to finally talk to others and share experiences. The kids were excited to explore the new toys and get straight to crafting 🎨
19/09/2020- Catch up & animal themed activities
We had our first face to face catchup with families and staff since lockdown! We were at Wray's crescent park for animal themed healthy eating and movement activities followed by a picnic 🦆🦒🐘 It was good to see how much the kids had grown in the last 6 months.

The children were very excited about making their own squishy balls. We used balloons and filled them up with a variety of materials with different textures such as: pebbles, beads and lentils. We also added in soap. The kids enjoyed the sensory craft as they explored all the textures and smells with the support of an adult/parent.

Today the children had great fun with shape and colour craft. The kids explored with different materials including: colourful buttons, different shaped paper pieces and stars to decorate a paper elephant or paper figure. They also enjoyed playing in the outside area.

In order to take on more families we have been fortunate enough to be able to expand into Bright Start's wonderful space on the 1st floor. The children had fun exploring the new space and the sensory toys.

Today the children took part in paper pancake craft in anticipation for pancake day! They decorated their paper pancakes with different toppings and painted them. And of course!! they ate delicious pancakes with syrup and fruits...yum!! 😋

The children really enjoyed the unicorn themed craft as everyone made great masks and decorated their own unicorns using glitter and also string as the long hair!!
08/02/2020- Valentines day craft
The children took part in valentines day craft and made some fabulous cards, hats and cute animals 🐠🐝🦉They decorated them using hearts, feathers and gems!!
25/01/2020- Chinese New Year
It's been a year since we held our first session👍, the time has flown and the children have flourished. This week we held another workshop this time it was about eating 🥗 and the children made floral 💐 paintings using bottles to make patterns.

Today we had so much fun making scented play dough alongside creating amazing chalk drawings of superstars!!! 🌟

Its our first week back from the holidays and we made amazing 2020 new years cards with firework drawings and glitter! The children also had fun making sensory squishy bags which they could draw on afterwards.
14/12/19 - Christmas craft
As its our last week before the holiday, the children made their own christmas cards and decorated christmas wreaths. We also had an amazing christmas lunch!! yummmyyy 😋

Today the children enjoyed the bubble workshop filled with lots of fun activities!! We saw bubble rainbows and even bubble snow!! ❄️

Christmas craft ☃️
We made so many things this week, including mini snow globes and sensory bottles with glitter!! The children had so much fun making these colourful and cool crafts.

We had a great turn out to the workshop "what is Autism?" presented by Orit (Occupational Therapist). We had lots of people attend from relatives, teachers to parents of newly diagnosed children.
Also, the children had a go at kids origami and made dinosours and octopuses!

Halloween Theme 🎃
The children took part in Halloweened themed craft in anticipation for the exciting day!! They created spooky plates with glitter, pumpkins huge eyes. The children also played a fun crocodile board game as a team! Great teamwork👍

Autumn themed craft 🍂 🍁
The children took part in autmn themed craft which consisted of using leaves, conquers, hazelnuts, and plastic bugs and playdough. Also, they has so much fun playing around with coloured sand and used it too make sea creatures.

Today we had an occupational therapist join usand present a presentation about behaviour managament.The children were busy with making scented play sough. The kids enjoyed this activity as they played around with the dough afterwards.

We had an amazing trip to the aquarium. We saw penguins, seahorses and huge sharks!!!

First day back!!
Its our first day back from the summer holiday which meant summer themed craft!!! The children made boats and mermaids while building castles during softplay.

The children tried a range of activities today including colourful clay modeling, yoga and a capoera music lesson. Its our last week before the summer break so we gave out goodie bags with small sensory toys,social stories and flashcards to make traveling that little bit easier 😀

A trip to the fire station & Sensory play
The children visited the fire station today and took part in fun and exciting activities such as wearing the uniform and playing with the fire hose!!
We also made sensory craft which invloved making slime, and sensory bags. How fun!!

We had fun making animals out of cardboard rolls and decorating them together. We had a range of animals, from elephants to lions!!

A day full of craft and play!
The children were busy with designing their own crowns in celebration of the queens birthday! 😀 They also had a great time playing with sand and making spagetti in the kitchen play area. YUMM🤪
08/06/2019 The slightly Annoying Elephant
We went to the Little Angel Theatre this weekend and saw the production of The Slightly Annoying Elephant which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
So much so that some of the children where able to recall the big blue elephant and disccuss it with their family. Result! 🙂

The weather was great today👍 Perfect for a picnic at th park! The children made sandcastles together and also played on the boat and tractor

Plastic bottle craft
The kids had so much fun making animals and trains out of plastic bottles!
The children also has a great time building houses within softplay together. Great teamwork!! :))
18/05/2019 Outing to ZSL London Zoo
Every year in May the London Zoo have a weekend for children with special needs where increased staff are present and interactive events are organised.
The children had lots of fun visiting the animals and watching the live shows. The penguin attraction was particularly popular as always :)

Amazing news! We just found out we will be receiving a grant of £5000 towards our Charitable project 'Advance and support SEN' from Islington Council’s Community Chest: funded by Islington Council, in partnership with Cripplegate Foundation.

The kids had a great time making a variety of things with shoeboxes including a mini foosball machine and puppet theatre.
As always the children enjoyed soft play and eating lunch together.
A few children managed to try food they otherwise wouldn't normally tollerate eating. Success!

We have been busy making masks of our favourity book characters for World Book Day.
The children also had immense fun together with a butterfly toy. Lots of happy faces!

It is official, the charity commission have said:
'We are satisfied that SEN FAMILY SATURDAYS is a charity and it has been entered onto the Register of Charities with the Registered Charity Number 1182095.'
Lots of hard work to get all the paperwork done but it is worth it to be able to raise funds and help children with disabilities.
16/02/2019 Outing
We had our first outing this Saturday. The children had a lovely time and behaved so well @LittleATheatre (Little Angel Theatre) and watched a wonderful performance of Prince Charming.
The performers were charismatic and endearing, even my husband was both laughing and in tears!
It was the first time we have had the courage to take our child to a theatre production and it was all thanks to the support of the people in this charity.

The first week back a there was lots to do, organising supplies to fit the new rooms we are using. The children enjoyed winter themed crafts as it had been snowing this week.
