Each week we provide craft & play activities, outings or events for the children to further develop their abilities and social skills. Here are some of the fun things the children have been doing.
19/10/2024 - Demand avoidance and meltdowns
We had a great session today making Halloween themed sensory bagsThe children added green paint, shower gel, googly eyes, Pom poms and glitter and enjoyed mixing it together in bags. We also had an amazing workshop with Orit Roditti about demand avoidance and meltdowns which was extremely helpful for parents and staff.
12/11/22- Remembrance Day themed craft
This week the children had fun with Remembrance Day themed craft. The children had fun painting and colouring in poppies.
15/01/22 - First session of 2022!
Today was our first day back at our old space and the kids enjoyed the soft play, outdoor area and indoor craft. The children had fun making snow bear decoration kits.
13/11/21 - Fairy magnets
This week, everyone was having fun with outdoor play. The children enjoyed playing connect four and looking for mushrooms in the garden ๐
02/09/21 - Indoor craft
Today, the children had fun making fairy scratch art magnets, building towers and playing in the kitchen area.
The kids enjoyed indoor play and craft as it was raining today. They painted and decorated wooden people photo frames and also made their own paintings

20/11/21 - Snowy owl decorations
This week, the children enjoyed making snowy owl decorations and building huge towers with Legos. They also loved some birthday cupcakes, YUM ๐
In celebration of Halloween, we had fun with Halloween themed craft in our spooky costumes ๐ป We made pumpkin decorations and treat boxes.
This week, we welcomed Autumn by making magic fairy wands with glitter and ribbons. We also made hedgehogs with stick-on glittery leaves.
09/10/21 - Animal Craft
Today the children made woodland jump up animal craft and enjoyed watching them jump up really high!
Today was our last session of 2021!! We celebrated by making festive trees and decorations.
27/11/21 - Snowman craft
This week's session was full of fun activities for the children including making Autumn fairies and soldiers, playing outdoor connect four, and construction with building blocks.

29/05/21- Our venue setup
We have a spacious new venue with various different activity areas such as : construction, reading and sensory corner, home corner, technology area , craft table, puzzle area and lunch table. The children had great fun today enjoying the weather with bubbles outside and crafting paper aeroplanes.
19/09/2020- Catch up & animal themed activities
We had our first face to face catchup with families and staff since lockdown! We were at Wray's crescent park for animal themed healthy eating and movement activities followed by a picnic ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ It was good to see how much the kids had grown in the last 6 months.

The children were very excited about making their own squishy balls. We used balloons and filled them up with a variety of materials with different textures such as: pebbles, beads and lentils. We also added in soap. The kids enjoyed the sensory craft as they explored all the textures and smells with the support of an adult/parent.

The children enjoyed making cards and bumble bees now that spring is here.

Amazing news! We just found out we will be receiving a grant of ยฃ5000 towards our Charitable project 'Advance and support SEN' from Islington Councilโs Community Chest: funded by Islington Council, in partnership with Cripplegate Foundation.
We are so happy and appreciate all the support we are receiving from Islington Council and the Cripplegate Foundation. Thank you so much. And a special thanks to the staff for the continued belief in the support we are providing to families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

09/03/2019 Shoebox crafts
The kids had a great time making a variety of things with shoeboxes including a mini foosball machine and puppet theatre.
As always the children enjoyed soft play and eating lunch together.
A few children managed to try food they otherwise wouldn't normally tollerate eating. Success!

It is official, the charity commission have said:
'We are satisfied that SEN FAMILY SATURDAYS is a charity and it has been entered onto the Register of Charities with the Registered Charity Number 1182095.'
Lots of hard work to get all the paperwork done but it is worth it to be able to raise funds and help children with disabilities.

The first week back a there was lots to do, organising supplies to fit the new rooms we are using. The children enjoyed winter themed crafts as it had been snowing this week.
